When you buy a phone, you're not buying a camera that captures reality. You're buying an AI-powered image creation tool. But nobody frames it that way. Nobody says, "This phone will beautify all your photos without asking permission." They say, "Advanced computational photography enhances your photos." It's the same thing with different PR spin.

Google Pixels actually have the most honest implementation. They show you the RAW data from the sensor before processing. But almost nobody uses it. The default processed version is so appealing that people rarely bother. And that's the real win for these companies—they've made the fake so appealing that you don't want the real thing anymore.

What This Means for the Future of Truth
